Types of
Dining Tables
A dining table is an essential piece
of furniture in one’s home, and one that will see a lot of use over the years. Fortunately, there are many
different shapes, styles, and sizes of dining tables, of which one will meet your needs.
Dining room tables can be circular, rectangular, or square.
Rectangular and square tables often have rounded edges to give them a softer appearance. They can be an average
height off the ground, or require taller, stool-like chairs to sit at them. Often made out of wood, they can also
be made from glass, metal, or a combination of all three.
The size of the room in which you will be putting the dining table
will determine the size of table that you should purchase. All dining tables will seat at least four people, even
if it may be a bit cramped, and traditional tables typically go up to seating 10 or 12 people comfortably. Of
course, even larger tables are available.
If you want to buy a nice table at this point in your life, and do not
have the current space for a large table but anticipate having needs for a larger one later on down the road,
one option is to buy a table that has removable leaves in it.
These leaves can be taken out and stored, making the table small,
but put into the table at a later date, increasing its seating capability.
Counter height
dining tables are available from many different places, and can be purchased at many
different price points. If you are looking for a high quality, expensive dining table, some good furniture
stores at which to look include Arhaus Furniture, Ethan Allen, and Thomasville. Good mid-range price stores
include Pottery Barn, Crate & Barrel, West Elm, and ZGalerie. All of these stores have many different
dining table options in varying sizes, shapes, and colors.
However, there are also good retailers that specialize in low-cost
furniture options for people on a budget. Mass-market discount retailers, like Target and Wal-Mart, have great
options at good prices. However, you should be aware that you may have to assemble the item yourself once you have
purchased it. This helps the companies to keep costs down. Additionally, Ikea has well-priced, decent quality
furniture, including dining tables.
For another economical option, take a trip to some of your local
thrift stores and second-hand shops. People are often surprised at the range of items available, such as dining
tables that have been donated, and these types of stores offer unbeatable prices.
